Nakawa Buccaneers American Football Club, under the Nakawa American Football Association (NAFA), is pleased to announce a successful engagement with the USAID Uganda Educational Office through the Education for Youth and Child Development portfolio. During this meeting, NAFA formally presented its proposal aimed at establishing a strategic partnership to advance American football within Uganda’s education sector.
The proposed collaboration focuses on integrating American football into school-based sports programs while strengthening the education sports curriculum to holistically develop student-athletes. Our mission is to align athletic participation with strong academic offerings, ensuring that learners benefit not only from physical development but also from improved educational outcomes, life skills, leadership, and discipline.
Through this partnership, NAFA seeks to promote structured student-athlete programs that combine sports training, academic support, mentorship, and pathways to higher education opportunities. American football will be utilized as a tool for youth engagement, inclusion, and talent development, while reinforcing values of teamwork, resilience, and academic excellence.
We are encouraged by the office of Education, Youth and Child Development from USAID Uganda receipted our proposal and share a common vision of empowering young people through education and sport. NAFA remains committed to working collaboratively with USAID and other stakeholders to create sustainable, education-centered sports programs that positively impact learners, schools, and communities across Uganda.
