The Nakawa International Flag Football Championship 2026 was successfully held on 11th April 2026 at Lubiri High School, bringing together young athletes from Uganda and Kenya under the internationally recognized framework of the International Flag League (IFLAG).
The championship featured exciting Under-15 boys and girls categories, showcasing emerging talent, discipline, and sportsmanship in flag football. Representing Uganda was Lubiri High School Mengo, while Kenya was represented by City Rose Academy.
In a highly competitive boys’ match, Uganda secured a narrow but well-earned victory over Kenya, finishing 14–12 in a thrilling encounter that kept spectators engaged until the final whistle. The Ugandan boys demonstrated strong teamwork, tactical awareness, and resilience under pressure.
The girls’ match equally highlighted the growing strength of women’s participation in the sport. Uganda delivered a confident performance, winning 6–0 against their Kenyan counterparts. The match reflected excellent defensive organization and determination from both teams, with Uganda capitalizing on key opportunities.
This championship marked an important milestone in the growth of flag football in East Africa, promoting youth development, cross-border collaboration, and international sporting standards. Organized by the Nakawa American Football Association (NAFA), the event continues to serve as a platform for nurturing young talent and building the future of American football in the region.
As the sport continues to expand, NAFA is actively seeking partners and sponsors to support future editions of the championship. Collaboration opportunities exist in youth development programs, event sponsorship, branding, and international exchange initiatives.
We invite organizations, institutions, and stakeholders to join us in building champions and inspiring communities through flag football.
